Touristic, but you get decent meat if you’re patient: Churrascaria Carretão do Lido (4. February 2016)

| April 8, 2016 | 0 Comments

The lunch at the Carretão do Lido located at the Copacabana is included in a full-day tour of the Christ Redeemer, Copacabana, and the Sugar Loaf. The lunch would usually account for 79 BRL. The selection you get from the buffet is quite decent ranging from various salads …

… to more salads …

… and even sushi. That was definitely a surprise I had not expected, however, the sushi is not particularly good. However, be careful with the wasabi as it is definitely spicier than usually.

Besides that there are a couple of fishes and the like …

… to make sure you get your belly stuffed before the meat arrives.

And the selection is quite broad so you actually end up having more than enough – if you are not careful – before the first skewer with meat is brought to your table.

The selection of meats which is served is quite okay. But be careful because first of all you are approached with the “cheaper meat” like chicken before they end up serving the good parts of the beef. So rather do not dig in too much in the beginning and let some time pass before you actually get to dig in.

The place is very touristic, incredibly full, and you are treated accordingly. The service doesn’t really pay attention to you but really just does their program which makes sense given the number of people which walk through there. But when you ask for something more than the original order of beverages they would forget, not pay attention, etc.

Given, I was there with a tourist group (approx. 15 people), you are treated as a group. Once the majority of us was satisfied, i.e. did not ask for more meat anymore, you were just plainly ignored when you basically had to waive at the waiter – and he would still ignore you.

The price is fair for what you get given you are expecting no gourmet experience. The price for water (0,31L) is 6 BRL which is also acceptable. Overall, if you book a tour and are brought here, it is okay to eat as you get your belly stuffed. If you are looking for a proper Churrascaria though, I would recommend you something else like Fogo de Chão.
