The closest thing to real Mexican food: Restaurant La Taqueria (12. February 2016)
The La Taqueria is one of the closest things you get to real Mexican food in Zurich. The “Taco Carnitas (braised pork, guacamole, salsa fresca)” (CHF 6.90) is delicious in taste and perfect to start your lunch.
The “Quesadilla al Pastor (with pork, prepared ‘Al Pastor’)” (CHF 18.90) is absolutely rich too. The only downside of ordering two dishes is that you get them both at the same time – which obviously lets the cheese in the quesadilla cool down, making it a bit chewy. So, rather order one, and then order the second one later, or tell them when you order that you don’t want to have both at the same time.
What you should definitely consider when you are planning on having lunch here: Book a table in advance! The place was super crowded and we were absolutely lucky to get a table!
The service is friendly, although the only service is that they bring the plates to your table as you have to order at the counter. But that happens rather quickly after you’ve placed your order. The “Jarrito” (CHF 5.50) is definitely something you do not get every day.
Overall, the La Taqueria is great – lovely food, busy atmosphere, fair prices, and speedy service.
