Spanish tapas place close to Zurich HB: Restaurant Mucho Gusto (25. February 2016)

| April 24, 2016 | 0 Comments

Mucho Gusto indeed! I have passed the restaurant a couple of times but I never managed to stop – however, it is worth a stop. The interior is simple but comfortable and atmospheric. The waitresses are friendly and helpful and the dishes are absolutely good. The “pimientos de padrón” (CHF 8.50) and the “chorizo champignons” (CHF 12.50) make a good start. I would only improve the chorizo – champignons ratio a bit (more chorizos, less mushrooms) but else fine.

The “hummus” (CHF 8.00) on the other hand was not that great. But I suppose that is my own doing for choosing hummus in a place where Spanish tapas are served. In addition, why serve “chips” instead of pita bread or the like (as chips are super not practical to actually “pick up” the hummus).

The “croquetas Madrid” (CHF 14.00) and the “pluma Ibérica” (CHF 23.00) were next. And both dishes were good although I did like the pluma Ibérica much more.

The “camarones ‘Isla Mujeres'” (CHF 16.00) were not exactly what I expected as they were still quite “glassy” and the garlic oil sauce was surprisingly decent – but almost a bit too decent for “king prawns in garlic”.

Overall, I really liked the Mucho Gusto as the dishes are good, the place is atmospheric, the service is caring and friendly, and the prices are decent. Booking a table in advance is highly recommended as the place was full when I left around 10pm.
