Food market @ Florence: Mercato Centrale (23. April 2016)
While an Italian food market sounded absolutely interesting and promising, I must admit that I was not entirely satisfied with what I experienced. The place has two levels – on the entry level there are the actual booths where you can buy the dishes. On the second level, you can find some more tourist-like places where you can buy wine and food.
The dishes I’ve tried where a bit of a disappointment. I mean, the food was okay but when you are thinking about Italy you are kind of thinking about this great dishes – and there were definitely no great dishes here.
Overall, the Mercato Centrale is a nice experience as it is crowded (especially around lunch time), quite truly Italian, a bit unorganized, friendly people but the dishes you get there are actually not that mesmerizing but at least you get quite decent wines for a decent prices (i.e. a bottle of a Chianti Classico, EUR 15.00).
