Nice vegetarian restaurant close to the main station: Restaurant Hiltl Sihlpost (1. July 2016)
Given my recent “incident” is forbidding me to eat meat for some time (gout in my toe), I decided to give the Hiltl another try. I have been to the restaurant close to Globus a couple of years ago and it was way too expensive for what you get. Given lack of options, I went for the newly opened Restaurant Hiltl Sihlpost.
There is basically a large buffet you can pick any type of dishes – ranging from vegetables to carbs to salads. I went for the plate below (0,516kg, CHF 23.22) which was absolutely fine. What I learned though was that I have to pick the “expensive” ingredients so it would pay off. I mean, CHF 23.20 for half a kilo of food is absolutely fine and it was actually quite good.
The bottled “Ginger Lemon Lemonade” (0,5L, CHF 4.50) is actually freshly prepared and quite rich – including pieces of ginger and lemon in the beverage. Quite lovely!
What I like a lot about the restaurant is the interior – it is simple but it has remainders of the former post office and has been re-purposed quite nicely. Overall, I was positively surprised by the Hiltl – given I had really negative associations after my last visit.
