Limited vegetarian selection: Restaurant Landgasthof Leuen (10. July 2016)

| August 27, 2016 | 0 Comments

Being vegetarian is not always easy, I started to realize. Not that I will become a vegetarian but I realized that sometimes it is quite difficult to find something on the menu which is vegetarian. Luckily, there are a few dishes – and I went for “beet root carpaccio with feta cheese and chestnuts” (CHF 14.50) which did not only look very appealing but was actually also delicious! The beet root was cut extremely thin and went perfect with the feta and the chestnuts.

As a main, I went for the “fresh seasonal ravioli with pine nuts and cherry tomatoes” (CHF 32.50; but sold as CHF 29.50 on the menu). The ravioli were prepared perfectly al dente and the simple sauce was rich. The terrace is designed rather simple but actually quite lovely to sit outside in summer.

The service is friendly and swift and when you want to pay, the bill arrives within minutes and so does the machine to pay by card. For dessert I went for a scoop of “plum sorbet, lemon sorbet, and blood orange sorbet” (CHF 3.50 per scoop). The sorbet was already good but what I really liked were the fresh fruit served with the sorbet!

Overall, I can absolutely recommend the Restaurant Landgasthof Leuen for its vegetarian dishes. And it is also quite fine price-wise, although I think it is kind of unacceptable to actually charge something different than on the menu (only realized when at home and checked my notes)! However, the prices for the beverages are also fair – i.e. double espresso for CHF 6.20, a bottle (0,75L) of Henniez, CHF 8.80.
