Not satisfactory service but good tartare: Restaurant D-Vino (9. August 2016)

| September 27, 2016 | 0 Comments

Admittedly, I was not aware of the concept in the D-Vino that you have to fetch your dishes and drinks from the counter. But the “service” or rather the “lack of service” was exceptional! So, we were arriving on a Tuesday night and the place was absolutely crowded. Upon arrival we were asked to go to the bar and wait – so far, so good.

However, once standing in front of the bar, the waitress behind the bar was less than helpful. She asked us if we wanted to order something to which we agreed – a bottle of “Barolo Le Terre” (CHF 57.00) and a bottle of Valser (CHF 6.00; 0,5l). That order she carried out immediately asking us if we wanted to eat something which we politely declined given there was no table available. She then pointed out that we still have to order at the bar. Well, yeah, but we didn’t have a table! After some processing time she decided to walk through the whole bar to return behind the bar just to figure – “oh, there are no tables availalbe!”. Oh, no really?!

Once a table became available, we ordered the “Steak Tatar Classic, refined with Cognac” (CHF 23.80). Well, we had to go up to the bar to place the order.

At least (!), the beef tatar is brought to your table once you have placed the order and paid for it. And the beef tatar is absolutely worth trying. The meat is tender and smooth, the “spicy version” is actually nicely spicy and it is large and comes with enough toast (something you experience seldom enough).

So, if you walk in and it is empty, it might be nice to enjoy your tatar. If it is crowded, then definitely don’t go. At least, I won’t return when it is full of people as the service (if you can call it like that) is not up to the task!
