Outstanding lake view: Restaurant Mönchhof am See (13. August 2016)
It is around 6 years ago since I have last paid a visit to the Mönchhof am See – and while my memories of that visit were not really outstanding, this time it was actually a lovely visit. I started with a “cucumber salad ‘Bombay’ with curry sauce” (CHF 9.20) which I expected to be smaller for a starter. The combination of the curry with the slices of cucumber were surprisingly refreshing.
The “salmon steak with lemon butter” (CHF 22.30) and “a bun” (CHF 1.40) was okay but nothing more. The salmon was a bit too dry and the piece was rather small.
The “potatoes au gratin (instead of baked potatoes)” (+ CHF 3.00) on the other hand tasted great and the “upgrade” price of CHF 3.00 is absolutely worth paying.
What is outstanding about the Mönchhof am See – as with any restaurant next to the lake – is exactly that, the proximity to the lake and the view you have.
Besides all that, the waitress did a good job – she was relatively swift and friendly. But also somehow a bit “un-organized”. The prices for the beverages are actually also quite okay, i.e. a Corona costs CHF 7.80, 1 bottle of Valser, CHF 8.90.
