6. August 2010: Galvin at Windows @Hilton Hotel

| August 9, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Galvin at Windows bar is located on the 28th floor of the Hilton Hotel and is at the corner of Hyde Park and Green Park. It is therefore easily reachable from the tube station “Hyde Park Corner” (Piccadilly Line) or alternatively “Green Park” (Jubilee Line, Piccadilly Line and Victoria Line).

The Galvin at Windows already looks promising once you’ve arrived on the 28th floor. What is a bit annoying though is the concept of letting people in as you have to queue up and you can only get in once someone gets out – this would be fine in general but apparently the system doesn’t work that straightforward as people kept getting in and others had to queue in line. Still, it doesn’t take much more than 15 minutes until you’re in.

The place (the foto doesn’t show that too good, unfortunately) has a lot of small tables with mostly only a few chairs on the side.

The light is dimmed and this allows you to see the real beauty of the place – especially at night. As the Galvin at Windows has a huge window front as the name already states, you can see all over London with its lights and its wideness.

The waitress was friendly and helpful and served us quickly with the ordered. The only thing a bit unusual was that we’ve had to leave a credit card right at the beginning which was kept until we’ve decided to pay (in order to not sneak away). The wine is good and the price is fair (at least for a bottle).

The Galvin at Windows is a great place to hang out, chat and have a couple of drinks while enjoying the marvelous sight all over London – by day or night! If you want to skip the queue, it’s recommended to place a recommendation in advance.
