Great different foods: Street Food Festival No. 6 (14. September 2016)
Lately, there is quite a lot ongoing in Zurich with regards to food fairs and food festivals. Definitely a positive development of the city – and on the right path towards a more international mindset. This was not only proven by the fact that there are more such festivals taking place in the city but also – and much more – by the different kinds of food which are served at such a festival. As a first meal this evening, I went for the “Arepas – Beef Boombastic” which is basically kind of “corn flour bread with a patty made of beef and chorizo, guacamole and salsa” (CHF 14.00) and while the arepa was definitely good but nothing close to the ones I have had in Colombia, it was incredibly unpractical to eat and obviously half of the sauce ended up on my white shirt. Yay!
But at least you could watch them prepare the food freshly which is definitely something lovely. At the same time I was able to see how one of the customers ordered their beef patty well done. Okay, so it is entirely your choice how you eat your meat, but seriously?!
As obviously, one arepa was not enough I figured a “Taco Place” later and ordered “2 Tacos al Pastor y 1 con chorizo” (CHF 10.00) which are really served in a traditional way with steamed sweet onions, lime, and obviously various hot sauces.
The place is simple, like the street food you get in Mexico …
… but like in Mexico, there are a lot of people queuing to get some of these delicious tacos! Obviously, it is not like the actual tacos in Mexico but really damn close!
When the Street Food Festival No. 7 takes place, I will definitely go again – and so should you!
