Christmas Party @ The Dolder Grand (16. December 2016)

| January 29, 2017 | 0 Comments

As a starter of this year’s Christmas dinner, “tuna with pesto, a falafel like ball, and marinaded salmon tartar” was served. The salmon tartar was exquisite, the falafel a bit too dry for my personal gusto, and the tuna was rich but a bit too salty.

Next in line was a “soup served with a breaded shrimp” – while the soup was aromatic and rich, the breaded shrimp (and I did make the mistake to eat it by itself at the very end) lacked a bit in inspiration.

The main course on the other hand was absolutely exquisite. The “beef” was perfectly prepared, was incredibly tender and aromatic, and the sweet potato cube was rich and fit perfectly well with the mushrooms and the broccoli! Definitely an outstanding dish!

The final course on the other hand was not so much to my liking. The sorbet was based on a liquor and it tasted way too liquor-y for my palate. However, the parfait below was absolutely fine. Overall, the dishes were all very good with two exceptions: the main was outstanding, and the dessert was not really to my liking.

The atmosphere in the hall was great – they managed to set it up perfectly to create the Christmas ambience without it being cheesy or too much. Secondly, they did a great job in terms of service. There was always someone there to refill your glasses (water and wine) without you noticing that there was actually someone there – exactly how it should be.

I can definitely recommend to have your Christmas party at The Dolder Grand – great location and service, and good food!
