Great lounge but late lunch service: Executive Lounge @ Marriott Skopje Hotel (29. – 31. December 2016)

The Executive Lounge at the Marriott Skopje Hotel is one of the better lounges I have seen in hotels. It is very modern, newly furnished, and luminous.

You feel comfortable right away and that feeling is enforced by the waiters and waitresses as they are very responsive, and extremely friendly.

Due to New Year’s Eve preparations, the breakfast was served in the Executive Lounge for all guests so it was rather crowded. The omelet station was not busy all the time but when I wanted an omelet mysteriously, someone showed up and the omelet was actually quite good.

Generally, the selection of dishes in the lounge was definitely beyond a normal lounge breakfast but then again, this was mainly due to the fact that the DISTRIKT restaurant in the lobby area was being repurposed for the NYE celebration.

The selection really ranged from cereals, yogurt, various cheeses …

… to fresh vegetables and salad …

… as well as a variety of cold cuts and cheeses …

… and obviously some eggs and bacon …

… as well as a large selection of breads and spreads. There was really nothing to be complaining about when it comes to the breakfast.

However, the lunch selection, served at the odd time of 2:30pm, was rather poor on the other hand. It consisted of a total selection of three different types of sandwiches – which were all rather dull. The best one was the one which looks like a hamburger but was actually a burger filled with vegetable stuffing.

Overall, the service at the Executive Lounge at the Marriott Skopje Hotel is outstanding, the place itself is great, the selection of dishes highly varies between the various ‘food occasions’ but it definitely belongs to the better executive hotel lounges.
