The original and truly local cevapcici experience: Restaurant Destan (29. December 2016)
If you want to have the real local experience you definitely have to try the Destan in the old city. The place is basically a grill restaurant which serves – not sure if exclusively – cevapcici. At least that is what my friend had recommended me to try. And I went for the “10 Cevapcici” (210 MKD) which were served within minutes and were delicious!
The “tomato salad with white cheese” (90 MKD) is definitely worth trying as the cheese – not sure what kind of cheese it is – is luscious.
Apparently, the cevapcici goes with onions and chilli and it actually does in terms of taste. While the meal itself is rather simple it is absolutely heart-warming and comforting.
The place is rather simple including the interior design but you feel comfortable there as it is lively, vivid, busy, and the waiters are swift and friendly.
The prices are – for Swiss standards – ridiculously low which is also true for a bottle of local beer (0,5l) with 120 MKD.
If you are in Skopje, you definitely have to try the Destan to get a truly local experience.
