A complete tuna sushi rip-off: Japan Restaurant BIMI (15. February 2017)

| March 31, 2017 | 0 Comments

It is super nice if you receive a small amuse bouche from the kitchen – in this case an “edamame”. However, it was cold which is a bit unusual, at least in my personal experience. But, nevertheless, nice gesture.

I went for the “Azabu – small portion (tuna pieces with different fattiness: otoro, chutoro, akami, negitoro)” (CHF 35.00) and while I had expected that I would not get a lot of sushi for CHF 35.00, I consider CHF 35.00 for 4 pieces quite a rip-off. I mean, I get it, it is expensive. And I get it, you want to create exclusivity. However, CHF 8.75 per piece is too much. It was good, admittedly, however, too expensive!

The “green tea” (CHF 4.80) was fine but the cup was rather small for a tea and its price. So, while the Bimi has very good lunch menus I must say that the dinner selection doesn’t really fit price and performance. I mean, if I pay CHF 40.00 for 4 pieces of sushi, 8 edamames, and a cup of tea, then I definitely have the feeling like it’s overprized!

The place is rather simple in its design but at least the service was friendly and assigned us a table right away plus was quick – at least in taking the order. However, preparing these four sushi really took them time. I appreciate that you prepare them freshly, however, 20 minutes for 4 pieces of suhsi seem a bit – let’s say – a stretch.

Recommended for lunch – yes. Recommended for dinner – no!
