Great location to dine with 120 people: Restaurant Zunfthaus zur Waag (2. March 2017)

When I was at the Zunfthaus zur Waag this time, I was here in the framework of an alumni event so we were a group of approximately 120 people. On the top floor, there is an old traditional hall which was set up for us. The evening started with a “Riesling foam soup” which was intense in taste and the flavor of the Riesling was still very present.

As a main course, “sliced veal with cream sauce “Zurich style” with rösti” was served. And frankly, considering that it had to be served at the same time for all participants in the room (remember: 120 people), I think it’s an impressive achievement to be able to bring warm plates to all people at the same time. Besides that, it was not only warm and well on time, it was also, more importantly, tasty. Only the rösti was a bit too crunchy for my gusto but I assume that is normal when have to make sure it remains warm for some time until all the rösti is ready.

The dessert definitely looked most appealing. “Marcel Chardon’s chocolate mousse” was not only nicely decorated but also tasty – the fruit were delicious and the chocolate mousse was perfectly smooth. However, for my personal gusto the chocolate taste was too intense. Of course, the dish is ‘chocolate mousse’ but it was just too chocolatey for me.

The atmosphere in the hall on the top floor was great – however, with 120 people in it, it definitely becomes a bit warm with time. Secondly, I must do a shout out to the service – making sure that there is almost always enough water and wine and that guests are attended to more or less at the same time is quite impressive! I can recommend you to dine at the Zunfthaus zur Waag – lovely location, great service, tasty dishes!
