Delicious dishes with caring service in a lovely atmosphere: Restaurant Krone (3. March 2017)
The Restaurant Krone is run by Arbeitskette which is focusing on integrating people with physical and/or mental issues which I think is a lovely concept. The design of the restaurant is simple yet lovely – and if you get to have the table in front of the chimney, you will definitely enjoy the evening. I went for the “home-made Agnolotti (with ricotta, sage butter and planed Sbrinz)” (CHF 17.00) as a starter. The plate does not only look appealing but the taste definitely reconfirms that. However, the portion is a bit too tiny for my gusto.
As a main course, I went for the “Züri in a pan à discrétion (silvers of veal from Zürich with kidneys in a copper pan)” …
… “served with butter rösti and market vegetables” (CHF 39.00). The rösti was too dry for my taste but the vegetables were fresh and aromatic. If you order this course, you should definitely make sure you are hungry as the à discretion is something you don’t find often and for CHF 39.00 it is also something you will face a great bargain using it. However, for me, it was enough after one portion. The veal slivers and the kidneys are tasty and the sauce is delicious – so definitely a must try!
The service did a great job – they were super friendly, super caring, asking over and over again if everything was okay. If you are not aware of the background “Arbeitskette” this may turn annoying at some point in time but if you are aware of it, then it’s all the better how much effort they all put in pleasing the guests. The prices are absolutely decent which is also true for the beverages (i.e. double espresso, CHF 5.40; 0,5L Pilgrim, CHF 32.00; 0,5L Appenzeller laut, CHF 6.00). If you want to have tasty dishes and support a good cause, the Krone is perfect for you – make sure to book in advance!
