Good but definitely overpriced: Restaurant Conti (6. March 2017)

Bindella’s restaurants are not exactly known for being cheap – and fair enough, one is old enough to figure before going there what the prices are. However, I personally consider the prices too high for what you get. But first things first – when you arrive and have booked in advance, you are attended to your table and yo ufind yourself in a nice location, looking full of history – so generally quite a lovely place. The waiter shows up within seconds and takes up your beverage order and leaves the menu. I went for the “crema di carciofi” (CHF 16.00) as a starter which was a bit too thin for my taste but had pieces of artichoke in it making it a decent dish overall.

The main course on the other hand, the “Tartara di filetto di manzo” (CHF 44.00) was definitely too expensive for the amount of meat you get. I mean, it is well prepared, tasty, arranged in a lovely way …

… and you get quite some ingredients with the tartar to make it even better – but still, too expensive. Additionally, I would love to know upfront what kind of things I’m getting to refine my beef tartar before trying them.

At least you get – included in the price already – “bread with tuna spread”. The service is generally attentive and friendly – however, when the place is only half full, I would expect that the guy who serves the food will know who has what plate (if there are just two people at the table).

Overall, the Restaurant Conti is a lovely place with good service and decent dishes – but definitely overpriced from my point of view.
