When the restaurant is half-empty at lunch on a Friday: Restaurant LUV Drink & Dine (10. March 2017)

As I didn’t find the lunch menu too appealing I decided to go for something else and took a soup from the regular menu – starting with a “lime coconut soup, grilled scallop” (CHF 14.00). It sounded great and it was just okay. The soup has an intense lime taste but it is too light for my gusto – and the grilled scallop was really a grilled king prawn. I mean, okay, sure, a prawn might even fit better but if you sell scallop, serve scallop, or inform your client about it.

The “Caesar Salad (chicken breast, parmesan, bacon, croûtons)” (CHF 26.00) was so so. The salad pieces were too large and the croûtons definitely were the largest ones I have seen so far in a restaurant. The sauce was okay and the chicken was fine too (a bit too dry but at least you got quite some chicken). Now, while the place looks nice, I must say I don’t consider it very comfortable to sit in any of these sofa chair thingies. I mean, it is more like a lounge (and that’s okay) but the seats are not comfortable to eat properly – more to lay back and chill.

What I really didn’t like was the service – it was fine in execution but you would not feel like you’re wanted there as a guest. The waiter was somehow ignoring us several times and his facial expression really made you feel sorry for even considering to eat there. I mean, okay, sure, I am also not always the biggest smiley face when going to work, got my bad days too. But I really don’t get it when you are in a customer facing job, why would you show it to your customers? After all, your tip is also dependent on it. Seems like I’m not the only one who noticed – the place wasn’t fully booked – despite its location close to Paradeplatz and for the fact that it was a Friday lunch.
