Lovely food market but closing way too early: Ma Poule @ Torvehallerne (18. March 2017)
I have been to Papirøen (Copenhagen Street Food) last time I’ve paid Copenhagen a visit but was not aware that there are other food courts. Luckily, we stumbled more or less randomly across Torvehallerne around 5:30pm where we took a small break to get a glass of French red wine from ‘Ma Poule’ (45 DKK) and tried to get a cheese and cold cuts platter. Thing was though, the place closes around 6pm so we would not be able to get anything from them in particular but luckily after poking around a few food booths’, we found one which served ‘pintxos’.
And some Jamón Ibérico which was absolutely delicious. To me, the Torvehallerne is a nice market area where you can do your daily groceries on a high level as the majority of the booths’ are not really places to sit down and enjoy something. However, if you find one, it is perfect to sit down and enjoy a bite – comparable to the food market in Lisbon or Madrid.
If you are in the neighborhood I can definitely recommend you to pay the place a visit and enjoy a good, simple meal accompanied by a good glass of wine!
