Completely packed during lunch – no chance without a reservation: Restaurant terrasse (20. March 2017)

I can’t remember when was the last time I’ve had lunch at the terrasse but I remember that it is a long time ago since I had to queue to get assigned to my table. I had booked a table for 12:00 and when I entered the restaurant there was a line of about 10 people waiting to get assigned their table. Seriously, I can’t remember when I was last queuing for more than 3 minutes to get to my table.

For lunch, I went for the “lettuce with smoked duck breast” (CHF 6.00) and while I wondered why it was so cheap – expecting a bit bigger pieces of duck – I realized that it was just ‘duck ham stripes’ on top of the salad. The salad was incredibly simple not tasting like much but than again what do you expect for CHF 6.00.

The main course was “seared veal kidney cuts served on a Meaux mustard sauce with rösti croquettes and green beans” (CHF 26.00). The dish was rich and good and for CHF 26.00 definitely a bargain. What I only realized later after I’ve paid and had left – they had charged me CHF 36.00 instead of CHF 26.00 for the dish. After I had sent an email complaining about that, they called me the same day sending me the CHF 10.00 back per mail – service as you want it.

Talking about service in general – the waiter was friendly and attentive, which is especially impressive given the place was completely crowded! Besides that, the atmosphere is nice and you can’t complain about the price performance ratio (also applicable for beverages, i.e. a “double espresso” for CHF 6.20, a 0,5l San Pellegrino for CHF 5.50). Overall, the Restaurant terrasse can be recommended for lunch – good dishes, fair prices, and good service in a nice atmosphere. Just make sure to check your bill before you pay it!
