Exceptional lunch bargain for Zurich – cheap but great: Restaurant Riviera con Cucina (29. March 2017)
When I first visited the Riviera Enoteca con Cucina I was already very positively surprised of the offer, respectively of the lunch bargain. Now, after this visit, I am even more so – the dishes are great and the price is – for Zurich standards – absolutely ridiculous! The menu (CHF 16.00) started with a salad which was not only ‘boring green’ but had tomatoes and various leaf salads. The sauce, to be completely honest though, was not entirely to my liking.
As I went for the simplest menu, I had the “Calamarata Aglio Olio e Peperoncino” (CHF 16.00 with the salad) and while the pasta was good in terms of consistency and taste, the overall dish was a bit boring given it was nothing but olive oil, garlic, and peperoncino. However, that is what I had ordered, so I can’t complain about it. Next time, I’d take one of the ‘slightly more expensive’ menus which would come with a proper sauce.
The head waiter is friendly and jovial while the support waiter (if I can call him that way) serving the coffee (which is also complimentary with the menu!) was not so friendly and supportive. The prices are very fair – especially for the dishes – but also for the beverages (although comparatively high with CHF 5.80 for 0,5l water). I can highly recommend you to pay the Restaurant Riviera Enoteca con Cucina a visit – book your table in advance. Especially if you want to score one of the very few tables outside in the sun.
