Quite decent pizza offering in the middle of Zofingen: Restaurant La Lupa (29. April 2017)
We had originally only booked for four people but ended up being six people in the end – and they were flexible enough to ‘re-seat’ us to another table when the additional two showed up.
I started with “Tortellini in Brodo (meat broth with tortellini)” (CHF 10.50) which arrived rather quickly at the table but was rather basic too – the tortellini didn’t seem hand-made and the broth was rather basic in taste too.
The “Pizza alla Diavola (spicy salami with olives)” (CHF 19.50) and “additional anchovies” (+ CHF 2.00) was quite fine. The dough was thin, cripsy, and the topping generous – unlike in most cases, the anchovies were below the salami which made me think at first that they had forgotten but it was all there and it was good.
The place is rather basic – simple interior, functional, built to last but nothing out of the ordinary. The waiters somehow didn’t seem to amused but the friendliness and quality of the service highly depended on which waiter was attending you. The “Brunello di Montalcino, Castello Banfi” (CHF 79.00) was fine but relatively expensive for a Castello Banfi. With regards to all the other beverages, I think the prices are decent, i.e. “0,5l San Pellegrino”, CHF 5.80; a “double espresso”, CHF 5.20 and 0,3l beer, CHF 4.20. Overall, a decent place offering quite tasty pizza!
