When you don’t feel any of the influence of the 1 star Michelin restaurant in the same house: Brasserie & Loungebar DenK @ Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg (16. May 2017)

When you’re seated in the Brasserie & Loungebar DenK, you will find some bread and butter right when you are seated already prepared at the table. Which is pretty nice as you have to be a bit patient until the next courses are served.

The waiters were very friendly and helpful and made sure that you would have your drinks within a decent amount of time – not really quick but at least so you would be fine with the offered timing. The starter was a combination of different flavours and textures – smooth, rich, and generally quite delicious.

The main course looked incredibly simple but the asparagus with the fish and the respective sauce really made for a great main course.

And I must say the “white chocolate cake with mango puree and sorbet” was lovely.

You could not only have dinner in the DenK but they also served breakfast there. The breakfast selection is quite lovely ranging from various types of butter, jams as well as fresh honey combs …

… waffles eggs sunny side up, bacon …

… fresh fruit, and yoghurts so you would have everything you needed and wanted within no time. However, there is one thing which isn’t that great if you are using the bar – around 1:30am, the ‘bouncer’ comes down, called Murat, and he did quite a scene about us being just there, sitting, chatting, sipping a drink. Really, I have never seen such a not relaxed person – incredible!

So, overall, why the breakfast is decent and so is dinner, it is not really in any way outstanding. Especially, considering they have a 1 star Michelin restaurant in the same building I couldn’t feel too much of that ‘influencing’ the ‘regular’ kitchen.
