A truly traditional event – Solstice d’été @ Restaurant Widder (9. June 2017)

| September 17, 2017 | 0 Comments

About two years back I used to attend events from the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs quite often but recently I haven’t been able to attend any events – finally it was time again. The event of celebrating midsommar called Solstice d’été was taking place – as every year – in the Restaurant Widder accompanied by the Swedish ambassador. The event started with a nice little aperitivo which was taking place in the garden of the hotel.

There was a nice selection of different little starters like “deer tartare” – perfectly fitting the champagne served. Just a great way to start your weekend really!

Obviously, the table was decorated perfectly to fit the theme of the event – blue and yellow to match Sweden’s colours.

The food is served via a buffet – and you get pretty much everything from very healthy salad (I didn’t try) …

… to bread …

… a lovely selection of different types of smoked fish …

… a variety of salad like elements with a strong seafood footprint …

… as well as some seafood tart which was quite lovely too. What I – unfortunately – forgot to take a picture of but was incredibly tasty was the reindeer roast they had served – truly amazing and very juicy! Definitely a must try!

They do a great job in terms of their service – they are quite attentive. At least at first – towards the end of the evening (around 2am), they were not that attentive anymore. Now, what is obviously also a bit tricky is the fact that you kind of take a special Swedish alcohol shot after each course. Making people not so fit for the late evening. Still, it is absolutely something you have to try if you manage to be around for midsommar and see any Swedish event.
