Way more than just a grill close to Bellevue: Restaurant Sternen Grill (14. June 2017)
Honestly, in my head the ‘Sternen Grill’ has somehow always been saved as a standard grill close to Bellevue. And I’ve actually never eaten here. Well, there is always something new to learn, right? So, upstairs there is a restaurant – you can’t book a table in advance so it helps to be there early during lunch hours – or late. As a starter, I went for the “three different salads (celery, carrots, cucumber)” (CHF 8.50) which was simple like at home but good in taste.
As a main, I went for the “fish strips with spaetzle” (CHF 24.00). Now, the dish was originally with French fries but when I asked it wasn’t a problem at all for the waitress / the kitchen to swap it. The fish strips on the other hand were rather surprising to me – as they were three huge pieces of fish and not some tiny stuff like you often get it in other places. And they were rich and juicy and quite a portion. The only thing which was a bit surprising was the amount of sauce – as it was definitely not enough for that much fish.
You can either sit on the balcony so you can watch people at Bellevue or you get to sit close to the kitchen which is quite interesting to observe as well. The waitress was friendly and swift – like service should be!
What you have to know – you will get some kind of paper with a number when you have ordered. Now, in order to leave, you do not call the waitress which then brings you the bill but you take up your number, walk to the cashier, and pay. Which is a great solution so the waitress is freed up and doesn’t have to bother with guests ordering the check – and it goes so much quicker. Given you know, of course! While I had – so far – associated the Sternen Grill with the downstairs grill only, I figured, they have quite a good restaurant upstairs!
