Great view but definitely overrated: Ateljee Bar @ Solo Sokos Hotel Torni (30. July 2017)
Talking about overrated. The Ateljee Bar in the Solo Sokos Hotel Torni is mentioned in every (at least other) tour guide. From the Ateljee Bar you can look over the city of Helsinki. And I do admit, the view is exquisite, no question about that. However, it is not as amazing as you would expect when reading up on it. There are two rather small terraces, both not attended (but you have to get your drinks from the bar) and the terraces themselves are anything but pretty. At least the drink I had, a “Raspberry Mojito (rum, raspberries, lime, mint, soda)” (EUR 16.40) was decent.
And admittedly, the view is quite breath-taking if you make it for sundown (and are lucky enough to score a table outside) …
… but the place itself really isn’t.
Frankly, the view is worth visiting the bar but the bar itself isn’t. As there is no check if you’re actually consuming something up there or not, I can recommend you to just climb up there (take an elevator) and then enjoy the sundown and leave after it. Just bear in mind that sundown can be quite late depending on what time of the year you’re there.
