Not worth visiting for the food but for the atmosphere: Far Out Beach Club (12. August 2017)

| November 14, 2017 | 0 Comments

As the name already suggests, the “Far Out Beach Club” is quite far out from Amsterdam. Or more specifically, about an 80 EUR ride from the city centre. And while I was a bit annoyed at first, I must admit that it was actually quite a pleasant place to visit. The restaurant was almost empty around 11 am when we’ve arrived there, however, later during the day it filled up step by step and the lounge area which is placed right by the sea is lovely. The “Bloody Mary” also does the trick to make the atmosphere even nicer.

However, you shouldn’t come here for the food but really just for the atmosphere. The “calamares (10 Stuks met kruiden mayonaise)” (EUR 8.95) were a bit chewy and not really to my liking.

Given I don’t speak any Dutch, I was not entirely sure what I had ordered but the fact that we were talking about sardines. So, the “sardientjes (gemarineerde sardientjes)” (EUR 6.95) were served as pickled sardines – and they were pickled in vinegar. While 3 to 4 of them were good, it definitely became too much after that and it was just too acidic!

Luckily, the fries aka “frietje met mayonaise” (EUR 4.50) were decent. As mentioned, the view onto the sea from the lounge area is lovely and you can easily spend hours here drinking away one or two or three or … well, you easily lose count of how many drinks you’ve had.

Besides the fact that the Far Out Beach Club is quite far out, it is actually a lovely place worth visiting. Again, not so much for the food itself but for the fact that it is located right next to the sea and for its atmosphere! However, instead of taking a 80 EUR cab, you can always take the train which costs about EUR 5.00.
