A lovely Italian place – not where you’d expect it: Restaurant Osteria Leonardo (27. September 2017)
Despite having been in the area already quite a couple of times, I never actually noticed the Osteria Leonardo but I should have. The place sounded somewhat like a chain to me but it turns out, it isn’t. It is actually a super decent Italian restaurant – more a place where you would get cold cuts and the like but it offers also the possibility to eat something proper.
I decided to go for the “Pasta del Giorno” which was a “Penne al Salmone” (CHF 18.00) – the penne was cooked al dente as you would wish for it to be prepared. The portion was a bit too small though for my personal gusto but then again I have barely ever had a pasta dish in Zurich for CHF 18.00 only.
The place is rather tiny in terms of space but you would still feel comfortable as they manage to decorate it in a nice and appealing way. The waiter was jovial and friendly, making you feel comfortable and welcome. However, in the beginning we had to wait quite a bit until we were finally attended. The prices are absolutely decent – for the dishes as well as for the beverages (i.e. double espresso, CHF 6.20; 0,5l San Pellegrino, CHF 6.00, and 1dl Langhe Arneis, CHF 8.80). Given the place is rather small, make sure to book your table in advance.
