Afternoon tea with a view to the Gateway of India: Sea Lounge @ Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (1. December 2017)
When you’re close to the Gateway of India, you should definitely pay the Taj Mahal Palace a visit, or more specifically the Sea Lounge on the first floor. If you manage to get a seat by the window you have a nice view onto the Gateway plus the sea and all the boats which go to Elephant Island (or the like). The service is super friendly and professional and the tea selection is vast. I went for the “Makaibari Golden Tips (Dark, stylish leaves of this tea produce a light liquor with notes of lemon and citrus. The infused leaves have a pleasant woody aroma and the liquor has a light, crisp finish)” (600 INR) which was rich and aromatic
The tea room itself is worth seeing – it is nicely traditional, or at least how I imagine traditional.
So, when you’re in Mumbai in the vicinity of the Gateway of India, then you should definitely come here for a relaxing tea and to get some space from the busy and loud streets of Mumbai. Highly recommended for some relaxation.
