Great summer Abu Dhabi Chaîne event: Restaurant The Vista @ The Club (9. December 2017)

It is always a pleasure to attend a Chaîne event somewhere around the world as you meet interesting people each time and you’re always very warmly welcomed by the local bailliage. The luncheon (600 AED) started with plenty of “Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut Champagne, France” which was perfect on this sunny day on the terrace. Once it was time to sit in a beautiful surrounding, the feast started with “sheep’s milk cheesecake with taggiasca tapenade and lamb prosciutto wrapped rabbit loin with mulled pear and butternut squash” and was accompanied by “Hola Cava Rose Brut, Spain”. The dish was playful and rich. My favourite part was the rabbit wrapped in lamb prosciutto.

The “seared sea scallop on wasabi, green pea puree with mango foam” paired with “Boutinot ‘Kindred’ Chenin Blanc, Stellenbosch, South Africa” was refreshing through the mango. The scallop was tasty but it just won’t beat my so far best scallop in O Paparico in Porto.

What was incredibly lovely was the “bergamot sorbet”. The acidity combined with a slight bitterness which was still very pleasant made it the perfect break between courses.

The main was a typical Christmas time dish, “breast of goose, leg wellington and chestnut liver sausage with festive vegetables, mille-feuille potato and truffle” paired with “Kenwood Vineyards Zinfandel, Sonoma County, USA”. My favourite part – not necessarily in taste but because it was something new – was the chestnut liver sausage. It was smooth yet intense.

Isn’t the dessert just a joy to look at? The “blackberry parfait and texture of chocolate” paired with “Sepp Moser Riesling Beerenauslese, Kremstal, Austria” was not only very playful, lovely themed but also a pleasantry in your mouth.

Apparently, the “minced pie with brandy cream” is a Christmas tradition around here. While I honour traditions, I must admit that I preferred the rest of the menu to the minced pie but nice to become part of a tradition.

What I liked a lot was the setting – they really made you feel comfortable right there.

If you have a chance to dine at the Restaurant The Vista which is part of the private member club “The Club”, then you should definitely do that. If you can combine it with a Chaîne event, even better.
