Perfect spot to chill with Asian fusion cuisine: Restaurant Toko @ Vida Hotel (16. December 2017)
It is not a place I would have walked in if it wasn’t recommended to me. Not because it’s not nice but because it is located right next to the main street in Dubai Downtown. However, it is worth a visit. I went for my regular Asian starter “edamame with steamed sea salt” (22 AED).
Given, I have eaten almost nothing the day before, I was super hungry and went for the “Duck Tacos (Peking duck, Hoisin sauce)” (42 AED) as a starter which were delicious.
The “chicken XO (bell pepper, spring onion, black sesame)” (68 AED) was as good and definitely the perfect complement to the duck tacos.
Last but not least, the “beef rice (fried egg, bell peppers, snow peas)” (54 AED) was fine but it didn’t really live up to the standards of the other dishes. Still, not bad either.
The service is friendly and dedicated but was at first a bit slow. What I liked a lot though is the fact that they offer shisha. Overall, I liked Toko quite a lot as it is basically a lovely outside seating area which offers good food in a nice setting for a decent price. The same is true for the beverages with 32 AED for 0,75l San Pellegrino, 20 AED for a double espresso and 100 AED for the shisha.
