Decent Lebanese food next to Burj Khalifa: Restaurant Zahr El-Laymoun (16. December 2017)
When you are close to Dubai Mall, you have to spend some time there to see the dancing fountains. Definitely worth seeing – it is the perfect combination of music with the movement of water and light. It is just absolutely breath-takingly beautiful. A good place to spend some time to bridge the time until the next round of the water fountains is running is the Zahr El-Laymoun. The dishes served to me were “hummus Zahr El Laymoun (hummus, chickpeas, pomegranate seeds, pomegranate molasses, pine nuts and minced meat)” (37 AED) and “traditional salad with toasted bread and pomegranate molasses” (33 AED). While I liked the hummus a lot, I was not a big fan of the salad.
While the “chicken liver (served with pomegranate molasses topped with pomegranate seeds)” (39 AED) was great in terms of taste, it was also rather heavy making it a bit hard to eat the whole thing. But, it was good.
What I like about the region a lot is the fresh juices – and the “pomegranate juice” (38 AED) definitely is my favourite one. The place is nice as you can sit outside if you want and enjoy the fresh breeze – although that evening it started raining a bit. The service is dedicated and friendly. So, overall, while the dishes are not mouth-watering, they are good and the service is caring and committed.
