Typical airport food – not great: Restaurant Carluccio’s Airport C3 (27. December 2017)
I only saw Carluccio’s once in the Dubai Mall and didn’t enter it. Given I had an hour to spend at the Dubai airport before connecting to my next destination, I decided to give it a try and the start was quite a pleasant one – the “grissini with basil butter” were nicely crispy and the basil butter very pleasant.
The “calamari fritti (squid rings lightly flavoured and fried, served with lemon mayonnaise)” (51 AED on the menu but charged 52 AED) on the other hand were a disappointment. The rings were chewy and lacked condiments. The lemon mayo was regular mayo. Now, I don’t have an issue with that in general but if you announce a product then you better serve it. Secondly, when you put 51 AED on the menu, don’t charge 52 AED. Unfortunately, I realized too late.
The place itself is decent for an airport location – spacious, bright (not so much in the picture, admittedly) and comfortable chairs.
The waitress was caring and swift – the beverages (small San Pellegrino, 0,5l (18 AED)) were served within minutes and the kitchen was rather quick too in preparing the calamari. Frankly though, they’d rather take more time and provide a better food experience.
