Great sushi all you can eat offering: Restaurant Bushido (7. January 2018)

| June 2, 2018 | 0 Comments

Since I’ve arrived to Bahrain, I always wanted to try the Bushido as the place had been recommended to me a couple of times and everyone who has been was actually providing positive feedback, so it was about time to pay the place a visit. Somehow, on Sundays, they offer this “All you can eat menu” (14.500 BHD) which didn’t sound too appealing at first but turned out to be quite a good deal. When you get started, a “miso soup” is served which was actually quite fine in terms of flavour.

Then, you can basically order whatever you want from a pre-defined menu. As a starter I went for the “crunchy roll & avocado roll” and both of them were good – although, frankly, the avocado roll didn’t have much to do with sushi.

The “chicken gyoza” on the other hand were rich in taste and the perfect starter.

While the “rock shrimp tempura” was quite a portion and a heavy type of food, it was absolutely delicious.

The “grilled duck with hoisin sauce” was not entirely to my liking but still decent.

The “angus beef tenderloin with teriyaki sauce” was great – it took them quite a while to actually bring it to the table but it was delicious – once it had arrived.

The “california roll and the spicy tuna roll” was a good combination in terms of flavour too.

One of my favourite dishes was the “beef tataki” which came with a sprinkle of spring rolls which made it a truly great dish.

As vegetables don’t really seem to be a thing in the region, I was super happy to have the “avocado salad” which was fresh, tasty, and the avocado was spread quite generously.

Last but not least for the main courses, the “sashimi maguro (yellowfin tuna)” was okay but I have definitely had better sashimi in the past.

What I liked a lot was the dessert choice – the “green tea ice cream and cherry sorbet” were refreshing and of good quality, i.e. there were not ice pieces in the ice cream as you would have so often.

The “coconut ice cream” was of equal quality and it was just generally a great dessert selection.

The staff is friendly and overall professional, however, they forgot a couple of things throughout the evening like a couple of dishes we had ordered as well as the drink for one of us. In terms of atmosphere – the place is huge so not entirely filled and therefore it seems quite empty and somewhat lacking atmosphere.

However, when it comes to the outer setting – the water and the lights just make it pretty much a perfect place to relax.

The cocktail – mine arrived in time – “Japan’s Dream (sweet and sour cocktail mixture of vodka, cinnamon liqueur, rum, passion fruit, melon liquer, shake and top with energy drinks)” (5.900 BHD) was fine but not really outstanding, even a bit disappointing to be fair. All in all, the Bushido is a nice place to try and the all you can eat concept on Sundays is definitely a win if you are hungry however, I am not as huge a fan as I would have expected to be given all the comments from my colleagues and friends. But go, judge for yourself.
