One of the best in-mall options: Restaurant Wagamama @ Bahrain City Centre (4. – 6. February 2018)

Somehow, we never ended up in the Wagamama until recently. And since then, the visits became more frequent, i.e. almost on a daily basis. The “Tori Kara Age (seasoned crispy chicken pieces, dressed in and served with a spiced sesame and soy sauce)” (3.250 BHD) was good but also rather heavy in terms of flavour and spices.

The “Edamame (steamed edamame beans, served with salt)” (2.750 BHD) is always a good starter before the main course.

I liked the “teriyaki donburi (beef brisket in teriyaki sauce with sticky white rice, shredded carrots, pea shoots and onions, garnished with sesame seeds and served with a side of kimchee)” (6.250 BHD) since it contains a lot of vegetables and makes it a pleasant meal. Still quite a portion so you would not feel like you are hungry after having emptied the bowl but definitely tasty.

The “Steak Bulgogi (marinated sirloin steak and miso-fried aubergine served on bed of soba noodles, dressed in a sesame and bulgogi sauce, finished with spring onions, kimchee and half a tea-stained egg)” (7.850 BHD) is quite tasty too but definitely more meat-based than the other dishes.

What I liked the most of all these dinners was the “Kareraisu (stir-fried beef with fine green beans, fried aubergine and chilies in a spicy red curry sauce served with steamed white rice garnished with tea stained egg and coriander)” (5.950 BHD) as the sauce in which the food is served is rich, aromatic, and full of flavor. Definitely a ‘can try’.

Overall, the dishes are good and considering the fact that we are in a mall, the Wagamama is one of the best options there. The service is friendly, attentive, and relatively swift. All traits I like when having a brief dinner. The fresh juices, respectively the mixes are quite fine too – “Large Blueberry Spice (blueberry, apple and carrot with a taste of ginger)” (2.650 BHD) or “Large Tropical (Mango, Apple and Orange)” (2.650 BHD). In terms of atmosphere, the place isn’t anything special, however, it is decent. So, all in all, if you are dining in the mall, the Wagamama might as well be your best option.
