The Julius Bär Gold Cup 2018 @ The St. Regis Polo Brunch @ The St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club (9. March 2018)
The St. Regis Al Habtoor Polo Resort stands for one thing – Polo! And I was lucky enough to experience this years Final round of the Julius Bär Gold Polo Cup (10th anniversary). And you get to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the game and the view. But inside there are the true treasure where you get to enjoy the luscious breakfast buffet.
There is basically everything you want and need ranging from a variety of fried things …
… to hot dishes …
… soups and fresh vegetables …
… as well as your very own ceviche station. It is fun to build your own ceviche but if you’ve never done it before, you kind of end up putting too much of the leche de tigre or the spices. Making it a pleasant experience only to a limited degree.
I was surprised – again – by the huge selection of different cheeses. Something, I haven’t quite seen in many places in the region.
Even the dessert selection is lovely – you really get everything you need.
What I absolutely loved was the fruit selection as you find a large variety of different fresh fruit – aromatic and full of flavour.
And it goes beyond that – there is even a station with fresh crabs and oysters. What is missing are the tools to pull out the crab meat which made eating it a bit annoying.
Luckily, they also have a corner with Arabic delicacies where I was able to find my favourite Arabian delicacy for breakfast – hummus!
And lastly, there is a variety of salad-like dishes which provide the final element to complete the food offering for breakfast.
The show walk of the polo players after the first match was quite impressive – especially, if you are new to polo (like I was).
All in all, the Polo Brunch is definitely something worth doing because it is the perfect combination between relaxation, a good meal, and getting ready for the weekend. Worth booking a table in advance.
