Large, hearty portions and friendly but forgetful service: Restaurant Hardhof (25. April 2018)
I like the ‘Hardhof’ because of its simplicity when it comes to the atmosphere, the service and the dishes. The “bread with spread” was lovely as a starting point to kill the immediate feeling of hunger
The “blood sausage quiche with rhubarb chutney and fresh herb salad” (CHF 17.00) was interesting as it was a combination I have not tried before but at the same time it was surprisingly better than I had expected.
The “home-made potato gnocchi with rocket pesto, served on a sauce of ‘blue snow’ and ‘summer sky’ (both blue cheeses)” (CHF 29.00) was great in terms of taste but the whole dish was a bit too oily for my taste as the gnocchi basically swam in the oil – plus the portion was huge!
When it comes to the service, they are very friendly, however, when it comes to their attention, then there is a lot to be desired. The waitress forgot to bring a beer we had ordered (0,3l Hürlimann, CHF 4.40) as well as the double espresso (which was then – as a courtesy – offered). All in all, the Restaurant Hardhof is a lovely place which offers good food for fair prices in a good atmosphere. However, the service is not how you would want it to be. On a busy night, it is advised to book a table in advance.
