28. November 2010: Restaurant Schiff
The Restaurant Schiff is located right next to the “Rathaustreppe” close to the river Reuss in Lucerne. It is a bit difficult to find the entrance as you have to enter a little side street and walk it all the way back to the entrance door. Also, the entrance is not really appealing and if it wasn’t for a recommendation I would not have entered the restaurant.
The pictures changes once you’re inside. The restaurant looks like a typical Lucerne restaurant. The interior is held in wood and the tables are decorated with white sheets, so it looks really nice.
The waitresses are friendly, helpful, speak English and are pretty quick in bringing the dishes.
We’ve ordered “Flammkuchen” (which is translated as “flamed tart” on the menu) to eat. One with onions and bacon and one with rucola salad and smoked ham.
They were both very tasty. Thin, crusty and with great toppings. Definitely a must try when you’re there.
The prices are fair too, ranging from CHF 22.50 to CHF 24.50 for a Flammkuchen – depending on the chosen toppings.
All in all, the Restaurant Schiff is a really great place to go. The atmosphere is nice (in summer you can even sit outside on a little terrace where you have an amazing view on the river), the waitresses are friendly and helpful, the dishes are very tasty and the prices are fair.
