Amazing flank steak where you’d not expect it: Restaurant Le Théâtre (8. September 2018)

| February 3, 2019 | 0 Comments

It is a rather big challenge to find a restaurant for dinner which isn’t booked out yet on a Saturday evening. Finally, I was lucky and found the Le Théâtre – which served “grissini with humus” as a little snack while you were looking at the menu.

I went for something rather typical from the region – “six Burgundy snails” (EUR 11.00) which were okay but I must say that I have had better garlic sauce before (given the snails themselves do not really taste like much).

As a main course, I went for the “‘Herdshire’ beef skirt steak, sauce Café de Paris” (EUR 22.00) which was – and I really didn’t expect that – amazing! The meat was tender, rich, full of flavour, mouth-watering, just truly delicious! It is quite some time since I’ve had such good meat!

The “French fries” which were served with it were okay but, honestly, way too many! I mean, the meat was already quite a portion but there was not even a small chance that one would be able to finish the French fries.

The place itself is very traditional but somehow appealing in terms of the interior decoration and there is plenty of space between the tables so you have your proper privacy. Additionally, the waiters are friendly and relatively swift. The prices are absolutely okay – which is also true for the beverages with e.g. EUR 5.50 for 1 liter of sparkling water, EUR 4.50 for a double espresso or EUR 32.00 for a bottle of “Lalande de Pomerol”. If you are looking for great meat – Le Théâtre is the place to go!
