What a bargain – delicious lunch offering: Restaurant Lagerhaus (3. April 2019)
Lagerhaus is the German word for ‘storage hall’ and you can see that it used to be exactly that. The rooms are very tall with high ceilings which provides an impression of spaciousness which is quite lovely. They offer set lunch menus for a fair price. The soup was okay but nothing overwhelming (and too much whipped cream for my personal gusto).
The main course was a “tuna (yellow fin, MSC, 160gr) prepared on the grill with two types of beans” (CHF 25.50) which was a tiny bit overcooked for my personal gusto but still slightly red on the inside and, therefore, still yummy. The combination of the two types of beans was also better than expected.
As a side dish, I went for the “wild garlic risotto” (CHF 5.50) which was nicely creamy and had a great consistency (still a ‘bite’ when you eat the risotto rice).
The service is very friendly and attentive and makes sure you feel comfortable right away. The freshly baked warm bread which is served before the lunch is absolutely delicious – be careful not to order too much as it will easily stuff you. The only downside of the place is the vicinity of the tables to each other – if you want to hold a private conversation to which a random stranger shouldn’t listen, then the Lagerhaus is not the optimal place for that endeavor.
