Good dishes but overpriced beef filet: Restaurant Brasserie Freilager (5. April 2019)
The soup of the day is a “gazpacho” (CHF 13.00) which was more a bell pepper gazpacho than anything else. It was admittedly good in terms of flavor and consistency (rather thick), however, the soup was somehow lacking the little extra.
The “beef filet from Dieter Meier, 220gr” (CHF 75.00) was absolutely good in terms of taste and the way it was prepared (pretty close to perfectly medium-rare). However, frankly speaking, CHF 75.00 for that is just too much.
Even if you count the delicious “mascarpone risotto” into the CHF 75.00, that is just a number I do not consider feasible for what you get. I’m not saying that it wasn’t good or that I’m not ready to pay a decent amount for a good dinner – but I have had better meat and I didn’t necessarily pay more for it.
The “sauce Béarnaise” and “chimichurri” which are served with it are amazing though – especially the sauce Béarnaise really made it an amazing combination of taste.
The restaurant’s interior designer did a great job – the place is simple, yet lovely and modern, and the tables are apart from each other so you can have a private conversation. The service does a solid job and makes sure you have what you want and need within no time. Besides the beef filet, the prices are absolutely fair. All in all, I can recommend the Brasserie Freilager but I would recommend you to have the tartare or the roastbeef instead.
