Lovely view but average food: Restaurant Kavkaz (27. April 2019)
The Restaurant Kavkaz is located close to the opera in Zagreb and actually offers a nice view onto it if you manage to get a space outside. The service is friendly and was – at first – rather efficient. But then it took them quite a while to actually serve what we had ordered. I went for the “seasonal salad” (20 HRK) as a starter which I had hoped was a bit more than just green leaves but it wasn’t.
The “home-made ravioli (home-made ravioli filled with venison ragout, brown venison sauce, apple cream, mustard powder)” (75 HRK) on the other hand were quite great. They filling was quite a lot and the flavors of the venison were intense. I liked the fact that it was cooked almost perfectly al dente. Furthermore, the little cold apple dots definitely added to the taste. However, the fact that they were cold was at first a bit surprising. Of the mustard powder you wouldn’t really taste much.
All in all, the restaurant Kavkaz is a nice little place which offers good food for a fair price. That also includes the prices for the beverages with 28 HRK for 0,75l water or 30 HRK for a “mimosa”. Just make sure you get to sit outside as the view is definitely nicer than inside, although it isn’t really bad inside.
