Hearty Swiss dishes for lunch: Restaurant Gentile (7. May 2019)
If you are looking for a hearty lunch in a simple atmosphere and are ready to wait about 20 minutes, then I can recommend you the “pork cordon bleu stuffed with ham, chorizo, spinach, and cheese” (250gr) (CHF 26.00). It looks tiny at first when you get it served on a plate just like that – but it is actually quite a portion. It is also a bit special or interesting in terms of taste as the ingredients inside the cordon bleu are rather intense if you consider the cheese, the chorizo, the ham and the spinach. Personally, very much to my liking but for many people potentially way too intense.
The “bio pasta” as a side dish was a bit bland (some sauce or the like would have been lovely) but good in terms of consistency (i.e. cooked ‘al dente’).
The place is relatively packed so you have to book a table in order to have a place to sit. The service was attentive and friendly – and relatively swift when it came to serving the beverages. All in all, the Gentile remains a good choice for a brief lunch break.
