An interesting bar concept recommended by noma: Balderdash Bar (1. June 2019)

The Balderdash bar had been recommended by the guys from noma so we had relatively high expectations and at first we were quite surprised when entering the bar given it was a rather dark and somehow run down place – yet, it had something to it which made it appealing. I think, what really made the place special is the drinks menu as they offer a lot of flavors and combinations which you would usually definitely not find in a drink like ‘reindeer heart and mushrooms’ which I didn’t try but had a sip off – thanks, but no thanks!

The “Grasshopper Milkshake (mint, chocolate, absinthe, vanilla ice cream, hindbaer)” (120 DKK) was somehow like a milk shake with little fizzies on it. Not sure if I really liked it or not but it was definitely an interesting drink.

The menu gave away already that it doesn’t hide much ;-)

But had a pleasant surprise on the back where you would actually find recommendations on where to have drinks and where to eat. Well, more, on where to eat. And funny enough, of course we ended up later that day at one of the recommendations.

What I considered quite interesting was the fact that you can see the distillery live in front of you – and you can read what they will distill. Let me put it that way – not everything is somehow appealing when you imagine it to be served as a type of alcohol.

However, all in all, the Balderdash bar is an atmospheric place, nothing fancy as in sparkles and the like but down to earth, interesting and surprising drinks. So, if you are up for a cocktail treat, you should definitely pay the Balderdash a visit.
