Exactly the same as 10 years ago: Restaurant Marktplatz (26. June 2019)
The Restaurant Marktplatz was already there when I studied in St. Gallen 10 years ago – and the staff is actually (at least to some degree) still the same. The Austrian male waiter is still there and runs the place from a service perspective. However, they were not really on the quick side this evening – maybe because it was almost 11pm or maybe because they just aren’t! Who knows! However, the “salad bowl ‘Lake Constance’ (grilled fish filet on leaf salad with an Italian dressing)” (CHF 28.80) was overall quite fine. Not really a huge portion or anything special, but fine. What was a bit surprising though was the fact that they did not serve any sauce with the fish fillet.
When you have a lot of time at hand, then the Marktplatz is just about perfect as you get to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. However, if you’re under time pressure, then it isn’t exactly the most optimal place as the speed of the service is not really persuading. All in all, sound offering but nothing to get excited about.
