Vegetarian breakfast with a very colorful bowl: Restaurant Avocai (13. July 2019)
I am always skeptical of place which promote vegan and vegetarian food too much. Yet, I was again positively surprised by the Avocai (it might have helped that my friend is vegetarian and, therefore, knows about vegetarian places). I went for the “rainbow bowl” (EUR 12.50) which was a combination of beet root, pumpkin, sprouts, tomatoes, and a variety of other ingredients. Frankly, the dish was good, no question about that. But this turquoise kind of sauce which was applied over the other ingredients was not really appealing.
The place is simple but nice but the service isn’t really up to the task. The preparation of the dishes definitely takes too long on the one hand side, and, secondly, the order of the servings do not make sense – first the bowl, then the espresso (EUR 2.20) and then finally the “sparkling ice tea” (EUR 3.80). I mean, I was half done with the bowl once the drink arrived. That somehow doesn’t make sense – especially since preparing an ice tea shouldn’t cost you 10+ minutes. Still, all in all, good place for vegetarian or vegan options.
