Not only good for brunch but also decent for dinner: Restaurant Die Rüsterei (31. July 2019)

| August 25, 2019 | 0 Comments

I only knew Die Rüsterei as a place for brunch but it turned out to be also a rather decent location for dinner. We went for the “home-made hummus with pita bread” (CHF 8.00), the “mixed olives (Nocellara del Belice from Sicily and Kalamata from Greece)” (CHF 7.00) as well as the “cheese platter”. The hummus was not the best I’ve ever had but the overall selection and quality of the dishes was absolutely good and also quite enough for a group of four.

As a main I went for the “Ahi Poke Bowl (tuna, yuzu soy sauce, avocado, edamame, wakame, ginger, yasmine rice)” (CHF 29.00). The bowl itself was fine but the tuna wasn’t entirely to my liking. I think it was a bit too stringy for my personal gusto. However, in combination with all the other flavors at hand it turned out to be a decently tasty dish.

The “spinach, coco milk and chili” (CHF 6.00) I had ordered as a side was too much and it was a bit too milky for me. But, the spinach itself was actually good in terms of flavor.

For dessert I went for “home-made ice creams” (CHF 4.50 per scoop) and I must say that they were bot rather fruity and intense in flavor. I liked that but it was nothing spectacular in terms of taste.

The place itself is quite fine too in terms of atmosphere. Some of the tables are a bit high and, therefore, it is not entirely comfortable to sit on it for a long time but for a dinner it’s still absolutely within the realms of bearable. The service, however, could definitely improve a bit in terms of attentiveness. It did not only take relatively long for some courses to arrive but also it was a tiny bit out of order. However, all in all, Die Rüsterei is good for more than just brunch.
