Amazing wine bar but grumpy waitress: Restaurant Weinlokal 1733 (11. September 2019)

| October 17, 2019 | 0 Comments

It is about 2 years ago since I’ve last visited the 1733 and I had fond memories of that visit so it was time to do so again. I had called upfront to ask if the kitchen was still open that late and luckily it was. However, the waitress seemed more semi-amused about the fact that she had to work longer than she had expected. There was definitely room for improvement in terms of passion and friendliness.

As a starter I went for the “beersoup made from Klosterbräu and cheese” (CHF 9.50) which turned out to be way tastier than I had thought. The soup was actually delicious! I had no expectations and I ended up enjoying it big time!

And the same was true for the main course, the “salad bowl California (seasonal salad with chicken cubes, bacon, egg, and dried cranberries)” (CHF 22.50). I think I especially liked the salad as it had a lot of ingredients and was not just leaf salad.

So, in terms of food, the place is great, in terms of atmosphere as well, and ultimately – depending on who serves you – also in terms of service. The chef which then took over from the waitress did an amazing job and was super friendly also towards the end while the waitress – as stated above – wasn’t really.

So, all in all, I can definitely recommend you to pay the Weinlokal 1733 a visit when you are in St. Gallen as the food is good, the prices are fair, the service varies and ultimately, the place is nice in terms of interior decoration.
