Absolutely amazing dishes for dinner too: Restaurant PURO – The Social Club (29. October 2019)

So far, I have only been to the PURO for lunch so I was quite curious to see how the PURO would be for dinner – and I can say it already now, it was a blast! As an amuse bouche, a “whitefish filet with quinoa and wasabi” was served which was somewhat light and tasty all in all.

As a starter, I went for “pumpkin and rocket salad (roasted slices of Hokkaido pumpkin with caramelized rocket salad served with a light cream of butternut pumpkin)” (CHF 16.00) which was absolutely amazing. It was a very well-balanced dish with a nice combination of different flavors and textures!

My main course this evening was “veal cheeks and veal locket (veal cheeks seared in Barolo and roasted veal locket)” (CHF 46.00). I have had veal cheeks only a few days before and the benchmark compared to those was rather high. But they actually managed to reach that benchmark as the meat was incredibly tender and just delicious – together with the Barolo sauce.

The “kale” (CHF 8.00) and “Caranaroli risotto” (CHF 6.00) were my side dishes of choice. The kale was delicious in the way it was prepared as it was super intense in its flavor. While I liked the risotto in its flavor, the consistency wasn’t entirely to my liking as it was too smooth and too light. There wasn’t enough “bite” to it.

The restaurant itself is absolutely lovely in terms of interior design. However, if you’re placed right next to the loo, it loses a bit of its appeal. The waitress was incredibly friendly and did overall a good job. So, if you are up for great dishes with a good glass of wine (e.g. “Pintia Tinto de Toro, 2014” (CHF 109.00)), then the PURO is definitely worth visiting!
