Great lunch but weak service today: Restaurant Du Théâtre (17. January 2020)

I somehow always end up eating more or less the same when I’m in the Du Théâtre but today I decided to go for something else and ordered the “Beef Curry ‘Sri Lanka’ with rice” (CHF 39.00) which was a decent portion for lunch but compared to the other dishes they offer for lunch it was a bit on the more expensive side (but still very okay for Zurich). The quality of the service highly depends on the day and the staff present – some days it is absolutely great and other days, like today, it wasn’t. Everything just took way too long – from getting the menu, to placing the order, to getting the food, to getting the second bottle of water we ordered to getting the bill after we had asked for it.

So, while the Du Théâtre remains a favorite of mine (also due to some geographical reasons), you will not be able to experience good service on any day as it is rather a gamble if you’re getting what you pay for or not. In any case, book your table in advance as you won’t stand a chance to get something short notice!
